- Yes, of course. I mentioned that in my post. But I also said that I
- was comparing equivalent systems, which you are not, by a long shot.

- Umm, yes. My workbench is 1280x1024x8, which is over 1 Mb. Again, if
- you compare with a tiny little 640x200x2 screen, sure, it uses far less
- memory. But you have to compare at least roughly equivalent systems. I
- never intend to boot my Amiga in any resolution under 1024x768x8-bit.
- In fact, I won't even buy software these days that doesn't support the
- display database and run on graphics card modes.

- We have vastly different pictures of where things should be headed, I'm
- afraid. We'll just have to disagree i guess. Right now, my Amiga has
- 16 Mb, and as I am sitting typing this message, I am using 28 Mb of
- virtual memory, because LW is rendering a huge thing in the background,
- and I am using ImageFX to create some fairly large bitmaps, and I have
- about 70 total tasks running. I can not afford 32 Mb of RAM to do this
- without using virtual memory, and I do not want to be constrained to
- what I can do in 16 Mb.
-
- If the system comes with VM, you needn't be forced to use it, so you
- could still turn it off and use your system as you desire.
